In addition, George Katsakis (of the Royaltones) played the saxophone on most of Jack Scott's Carlton recordings (usually cut at United Sound studios in Detroit), beginning from "Leroy" / "My True Love". The Royaltones also accompanied various artists mostly at New York's Bell Sound studios under Harry Black's & Irving Micahnik's Embee Productions and for Twirl, Mala and Impact Records, including Del Shannon (various sides recorded between 1962-64 such as "Little Town Flirt", "Handy Man" and "Keep Searchin'"), Don & Juan, The Volumes, Johnny & the Hurricanes, and Shades of Blue. Dennis Coffey, who joined The Royaltones in early 1962, had started his recording career already in 1955 appearing as a guitarist on an obscure rockabilly 45 "I'm Gone" (Gondla Records) with a singer named Vic Galleon, then recorded for Fortune label with Durwood Hutto ("Crazy Little Satellite") and in1961 for Colpix label under the name of Clark Summit. During the late 1960's both Coffey and another Royaltone, the bassist Bob Babbitt achieved popularity as session musicians, especially Coffey who later became one of the regular Funk Brothers, performing on numerous Motown hits. Coffey also reached the Billboard Top 100 under his own name with the 1971-72 instrumentals "Scorpio", "Taurus", "Ride Sally Ride" and "Getting It On". In the late 1970s, he made recordings for Detroit-based Westbound label. George Katsakis led The Court Jesters with Rick Ciccarelli (vcl), Sherrill Parker (gtr), Jack Roberts and ex-Royaltones Marcus Terry (dms) from late 1964 until 1969, then joined with Sherrill Parker another Detroit group The Peppermints again run by two former Royaltones members Ken and Diane Anderson.
